Kids don’t need another lecture about feelings.
They need visual reminders they can understand in the moment.
When emotions are big, words disappear.
That’s why this tool lives inside your calm corner, classroom, or therapy space — quietly guiding children toward safer choices.
Feelings Buckets is a printable social-emotional learning activity that helps children:
recognize what they’re feeling
understand that all feelings are okay
choose from multiple safe ways to respond
practice self-regulation through play and visual guidance
When emotions show up, children simply choose the bucket that matches how they feel and select an action strip from inside. Each strip offers a child-friendly calming or regulation technique designed for that specific feeling or zone.
Instead of yelling, hitting, or shutting down, children learn:
“I feel this — and I have options.”
Kids are visual learners.
When emotions take over, they can’t always “think of what to do next.”
(If you’ve ever heard “I don’t know what to pick” — you’re not alone. My son says this too.)
This tool removes that pressure.
They simply:
notice how they feel
choose a bucket
pick a strip
follow the guidance
Over time, these choices become internal skills.

All feelings are okay.
Some feel comfortable, others feel tough — and that’s completely normal.
Not all behaviors are okay.
Big feelings are allowed, but children need help choosing actions that keep themselves and others safe.
This tool teaches that balance — gently and visually.
